A 30-second and a 90-second TV cut change the shower scene, extend a few shots and handle the console logos differently from the online trailer.

Two TV cuts of the trailer

A commercial version of the GTA 6 launch trailer is airing on TV, and two versions are reportedly running on NBC. [1] If you watch the game's marketing closely, the TV cuts differ from the online trailer in several small ways.

The 30-second TV version cuts Jason and Lucia's steamy shower scene and includes a few extended scenes. [1] The 90-second version keeps the shower scene and the extended scenes, but it drops the PS5 image shown at the start of the trailer that says the game plays best on that console. [1]

The extended scenes

The Raul dancing scene is extended, with Raul doing another half-spin. [1] The airplane scene now begins farther away, as Lucia tries to remain steady on top of the car. [1]

Each of the extended scenes is about 1 to 2 seconds longer than before. [1]

Where the Xbox logo went

The TV commercial does not feature the Xbox logo, similar to the original launch trailer on YouTube and the Rockstar website. [1] The reason for omitting it is believed to be a marketing deal between Sony and Rockstar. [1]

The trailer version downloadable from the Rockstar website avoids the Sony promotional image and shows both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 logos. [1]

What the trailer shows

The GTA 6 launch trailer arrived on October 15, about 34 days before release. [2][3] It features a new, haunting track from Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. [2] The song is titled Flower in a Hurricane. [3]

The new background track is dynamic and sad, suggesting the game will not be a typical smash-and-bash game. [2] The trailer opens with Jason working at Brian's Marina, polishing a boat while taking a free call from Lucia. [3]

It was already confirmed that Jason served in the US Army, and in his own words he got into some trouble and didn't leave on the best of terms. [3] The trailer also shows Lucia leaping from a moving truck onto what seems like an airliner. [3]

How we got here

Rockstar announced almost a year before the trailer that it would release GTA 6. [2] GTA 6 has already been delayed multiple times. [2] GTA 5 came out in 2013, which is the previous mainline release before GTA 6. [2]

During the August round of previews, YouTuber TCG noted four different states in the Criminal Profile system, from Professional down to Psycho. [3] Head of development Phil Hooker told Bloomberg that the team has changed things in the last few months and that the game's never settled. [3] Rockstar has not confirmed multiple endings, though the Criminal Profile system may provide clues. [3]

What it means for you

GTA 6 is launching on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. [3] If you want the full cut, the 90-second TV version includes the shower scene and the extended scenes. [1]

If you care about platform branding, the Rockstar website download shows both the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 logos. [1] The TV commercial does not feature the Xbox logo. [1]
