A finale built for size and height

A complete playthrough of Final Fantasy VII Revelation could take as long as 100 hours. [1] If you plan to play the last chapter of the remake trilogy, that is the time to budget for.

Revelation aims to be the biggest chapter in the trilogy, in the number of regions players can explore and in verticality. [1] It is expected to increase the size of the world around Cloud and the party. [1]

Square Enix had previously shown that the game's cast will be able to skydive into new locations on the world map. [1] A new gameplay slice set in the Midgar region shows Cloud exploring a massive chasm underneath the city while riding a pink chocobo. [1]

How you get around the world

Revelation introduces Cid's airship, the Highwind, which serves as the gang's base of operations. [1] Chadley is present on the Highwind too. [1]

Airship navigation lets players freely explore the open world before landing at areas of interest, including previously visited locations. [2] Piko is a Chocobo companion who serves as both a mount and a combat ally. [3]

Party, abilities and choices

Cid and Vincent officially join the party as playable characters after their story-based cameos in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. [2] The player-controlled character can be swapped at any time. [3]

Choosing which party members undertake certain quests can affect how events unfold. [3] Revelation also introduces the FITS system, which grants new abilities through the roles of Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner. [3]

Yuffie's hometown of Wutai is gripped by fear of war with Shinra. [2]

Size of the game and the team's story

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth greatly expanded on the environments of Final Fantasy VII Remake with its open-world design. [1] Revelation is expected to go further on the size of the world. [1]

Game director Naoki Hamaguchi estimated the game will be around 200GB in size. [1] When the article's source last spoke to him, Hamaguchi had completed the game 46 times. [1]

Jason Fanelli wrote that the Final Fantasy VII remake team at Square Enix has plenty of story left to tell. [1]

Expansions after launch

Two post-launch expansions starring Vincent Valentine and Sephiroth will follow the game's launch. [1] Two story-centered DLCs will be released between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028. [3]

Story DLC 2 follows Vincent and the Turks. [3]

What it means for you

Pre-orders for Revelation are open now, and all pre-orders receive Summon Materia: Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle. [3] A collector's edition is priced at $349.99 and sold through the Square Enix website. [3]

If you have not played the first two games, the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series Trilogy Edition is available for digital purchase at $84.99. [3] It grants immediate access to the first two games in the series. [3]

Check your storage as well, since Hamaguchi estimated the game will be around 200GB. [1]
